MIA

Hello, group!  We have been MIA for awhile because of technical problems.  Hopefully we are up and running again!
It has finally begun to cool off a bit in Manor.  We are in the upper 70's and 80's.
This week we are having Red Ribbon Week for being drug free.  Tomorrow our theme is our future is so bring without drugs.  We will all wear brightly colored clothes.  Thursday is the most fun day!  We get to dress up as our favorite book character.  Then we will have a book parade around the school.  We will be certain to post a picture.

Have a great week from Mrs. Lyons' second grade class at Presidential Meadows Elementary School.

Pumpkin Day!

On Friday we are having a pumpkin-themed day!  We are going to do some science experiments, have pumpkin treats, read pumpkin books, write about pumpkins, and do pumpkin math. We are also going to decorate our pumpkins.  We are really excited and happy about our upcoming theme day!

A Windy Fall Walk

We went on a walk on a really windy afternoon to look for signs of fall. We took pictures of leaves on the ground and the wind blowing. Our leaves aren't all off our trees yet. It's really rainy and the leaves are falling hard to the ground. We rake the leaves and we like to jump in them.

We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week. Today we all wore red to show we're making good choices. Tomorrow we are teaming up against drugs and wearing sports jerseys.

We are having a pumpkin contest in the library. We had to decorate a pumpkin as our favorite character from a story we read.

Happy fall and happy Halloween!  From Mrs. Conwell's Crew

In Scarborough, Maine, the leaves have mostly all fallen off the trees. We had lots of orange, red, and yellow leaves. We love to make leaf piles and jump in them. The temperature has gotten down in the 30s but gets warmed up to the high 60s. Sometimes we have to wear jackets in the morning.
We have been studying about Columbus and Fire Safety. Now, we are starting to learn about the Pilgrims.
It was fun to hear that some people in Utah go hunting. One dad has gone to Utah to hunt and will be coming home soon! Some of our classmates have woods near their homes and can see turkeys and deer.
After school some kids play on field hockey teams, are on swim teams, take swimming lessons, are on gymnastic teams, play soccer and play basketball in our yards. We have a lot of fun in the fall.

In Santa Clara Utah we are really enjoy cooler weather.  The leaves on the trees are just starting to turn colors.  Most of them are yellow. Last week we had our Fall Break.   Some of us went camping and others went deer hunting with their families.  One girl even camped outside in her backyard.  It was nice to be out of school so we could play with friends, stay up late, and even play video games.

Prompt Dates & Person in Charge of Reminders

Hello! Could you please view this document and sign up for a month to send a reminder on the MONDAY prior to the prompt date? Perhaps if you put that you need to send a reminder on your calendar you will remember better than I did this month;). You could find the email I sent out today to the group (10/9/13 from the account cgraffius@scarborough.k12.me.us) then "Reply all" so you don't have to input all those email addresses. Thanks!
